High-definition body contouring
What is high-definition body contouring surgery?Â
Mr Olivier Amar’s high definition body contouring uses power assisted liposuction in conjunction with a radiofrequency powered energy to remove unwanted fat and tighten excess skin. Rather than simply removing fat, high-definition body contouring helps to attain a sculpted silhouette, boost skin retraction and tightening without the cutting of skin.
Using radio frequency energy powered by helium plasma, Renuvion applies bursts of highly controlled heat to the underlying tissues to achieve tighter, firmer skin, while leaving the surface intact.
Why consider high-definition body contouring surgery?
Liposuction in combination with Renuvion is for those who maintain a steady weight, but still have pockets of unwanted fat, sagging skin and sub-optimal skin elasticity on the abdomen, outer and inner thighs or arms. The aim of the procedure is to reduce excess skin and fat, without the cutting of skin, leaving you with a smoother, firmer and more defined look, with less scarring and a shorter recovery time. High-definition body contouring by liposuction and Renuvion can delay or replace the need for more invasive surgery, such as arm lift, mini tummy tuck or thigh lift surgery.
It is important to understand that liposuction can only remove soft, superficial fat above the muscle layer – the kind you can pinch between your fingers. It cannot remove intra-abdominal fat (internal fat), the type that lies behind muscles and contributes to the protrusion of the abdomen. Therefore, a combination of liposuction, dieting and exercise is key to a good result. A consultation will help you understand what is possible for your body. Liposuction is not a weight loss treatment, but instead aims to sculpt the body for a more harmonious, elegant silhouette.
I find when fat removal is a priority and skin laxity is a concern, the combination of Renuvion J Plasma and liposuction gives great results, without the cutting of skin.

WILL I HAVE OBVIOUS SCARS FOLLOWING HIGH-DEFINITION BODY CONTOURING SURGERY?
Any liposuction and Renuvion scars are minimal. They can be hidden in the natural creases of the body and are difficult to see in most patients. The Renuvion probe is introduced by the same incisions as liposuction, small incisions of around 0.5cm. Mr Olivier Amar is dedicated to the management, prevention and improvement of scars.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE PROCEDURE?
Helped by a powered assisted liposuction machine, Mr Olivier Amar takes care to remove superficial fat in such a way as to ensure the skin retracts appropriately for a natural, smooth and toned appearance. During treatment, small incisions of around 0.5cm will be made. A specialist cannula uses movement and vibration to break down the fat before it is sucked out.
A single use Renuvion probe is inserted below the skin and the skin is treated with multiple passes. Using radio frequency energy powered by helium plasma, Renuvion applies bursts of highly controlled heat to the underlying tissues to achieve tighter, firmer skin. The result is an energy that is unique in its ability to provide tissue heating and cooling almost simultaneously.
WHAT FORM OF ANAESTHETIC WILL BE USED?
High-definition body contouring is performed under total intravenous anaesthesia (TIVA), a technique of anaesthesia which uses a combination of agents given exclusively via the intravenous route without the use of gas anaesthesia. This means you will sleep comfortably throughout the procedure and wake immediately afterwards with a significantly reduced likelihood of feeling groggy or nauseous. The anaesthesia will be explained to you by your Anaesthetist during the preoperative consultation.
HOW DO I ACHIEVE THE BEST RESULT?
A combination of wearing your compression garment, maintaining a steady weight, following your aftercare instructions and attending your post-operative appointments is key to achieving the best result. It is vital that you follow all the aftercare instructions issued to help aid the scarring process.
AM I REQUIRED TO WEAR SPECIFIC CLOTHING FOLLOWING SURGERY?
After high-definition body contouring surgery, you will need to wear a soft, elastic, compression garment for between two and four weeks to support recovery during the healing period which is easy to hide under your clothes.
How can I compliment my overall result?
Aerolase Neo laser treatment can be performed 4-6 weeks after surgery to support healing, to help flatten scars and reduce redness and thickness. Neo by Aerolase has no side-effects, requires no downtime, and is completely non-invasive.

What can I expect after high-definition body contouring surgery?
After high-definition body contouring, you will need to wear a soft, elastic, compression garment for between two and four weeks to help with skin retraction, reduce swelling and assist your recovery during the healing period. The garments are easy to hide under your normal clothes. Bruising should settle between ten and twenty days.
You will be asked to come in for a post-operative nurse appointment one and two weeks after your surgery. At this point your incision sites will be reviewed, stitches removed and your preliminary healing will be assessed. You will come back at six week after surgery to be reviewed by Mr Olivier Amar.
How long do I have to wait to return to normal activities following the surgery?
Depending on your type of daily activity, you will usually be able to resume your normal activities after two to three weeks and return to gentle exercise after four to six weeks.
