What is NeoClear by Aerolase treatment?
NeoClear by Aerolase is a new method of acne treatment that uses unique laser technology to gently deliver powerful energy for quick, side-effect-free results. Acne is a common skin condition that occurs when hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells. The laser energy destroys acne bacteria and reduces inflammation to control your current breakouts while inhibiting sebum and oil output to lessen the likelihood of future breakouts. In addition, it helps to generate new collagen, which diminishes any acne scars. This unique treatment leaves your skin looking clear, healthy, and radiant.
How does NeoClear work?
Dead skin cells and excess sebum cause pores to become blocked. P. acnes bacteria then begin to build up in the excess sebum, causing infection, inflammation, and, ultimately, acne. The laser light excites P. acnes-produced porphyrins to produce singlet oxygen, a cytotoxic intermediate that destroys P. acnes bacteria. Deep-heating, high power from the laser heats up the sebaceous glands, thus reducing their size and suppressing output of sebum.
The coagulation of blood capillaries in inflamed lesions blocks the inflammatory response and reduces pressure on the surrounding tissue, decreasing pain and erythema. Water-based laser energy absorption in the deeper dermis causes collagen remodelling, resulting in improved skin texture and a reduction in acne scars. The pore unblocks. The sebaceous gland shrinks and sebum output is reduced. Inflammation and redness are alleviated. The skin becomes cleaner and smoother.

How many treatments are needed?
Four to six treatments in one to two week intervals are typically required for substantial improvement. It is important to understand that acne is a chronic condition which frequently recurs. While this treatment may lengthen the periods between breakouts, it is possible that you will need to schedule further sessions if or when breakouts do occur.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR NeoClear treatment?
It is best to arrive at your appointment with your skin as best prepared for your NeoClear treatment as it can be. This would ideally include not drinking alcohol for 2-3 days prior to your appointment, as well as having had plenty of rest the night before your treatment to ensure you arrive feeling calm and relaxed.
Before the treatment, you will need to completely clean your skin with a cleanser to remove any lotions, makeup, or other substances on the skin. This ensures that  the treatment will be able to achieve the best results possible.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE TREATMENT?
NeoClear is typically performed in two steps. The first step is to cover the entire affected area, this step will destroy the P. acnes bacteria, reducing oil output and preventing future breakouts. This step will also improve your skin’s overall tone and texture by stimulating the growth of collagen and reducing redness. The second step addresses any active acne lesions. The laser energy will be concentrated on each lesion to reduce inflammation and redness, causing the breakout to clear rapidly, and reducing the risk of scarring.
WHEN WILL I SEE THE RESULTS?
Everyone’s skin is unique and therefore reacts differently to treatment. Some patients will notice a reduction in their current breakout immediately after the treatment, while others may need a treatment course of six sessions to control their current breakout.
Typically, most patients see noticeable results after three treatments, with an enhanced clearance and quality of skin after each subsequent treatment. To maintain the clearance achieved with the laser, patients should support with an at-home skin care regimen.
How long does the treatment take?
Depending on the size of the affected area, treatments typically take between 10–30 minutes.
What can I expect after NeoClear treatment?
There is no downtime following NeoClear treatments and unlike other acne treatments, NeoClear has no side-effects. This means you will not experience dry, itchy, or tender skin. In fact, your overall skin quality and oil output will both improve, leaving you with glowing skin. You may experience a slight redness in the skin, but (if it occurs at all) it will fade within a few hours.
How long do I have to wait to return to normal activities following the treatment?
You may return to your normal daily activities immediately, though as with any laser treatment, you should wear a sun protection of 50+ and avoid direct sunlight.
