What is NeoSkin by Aerolase treatment?

NeoSkin by Aerolase® is a treatment option that allows for comprehensive rejuvenation of skin tone and texture, facial veins, redness, hyperpigmentation and Pseudofolliculitis Barbae (PFB). The Aerolase Neo is a medical laser system that utilises a 650-microsecond laser pulse technology (Nd:YAG), designed to deliver controlled energy to target tissues effectively.

Why consider Neo Laser by Aerolase®?

Most patients who have tried other lasers report that the Neo is much gentler and more pleasant. Typically, you will only feel a mild warming sensation on the skin when undergoing treatment. And unlike other rejuvenation treatments, Neo by Aerolase has no side-effects, requires no downtime, and is completely non-invasive. This means you will not have prolonged redness. The Neo laser can treat all skin types and all ages and involves no skin contact, no gels and no sprays.

The laser is known for its versatility and ability to treat a wide range of skin conditions and concerns, including:

Spider veins on the face are small, dilated blood vessels that appear close to the surface of the skin. They typically appear as red, blue, or purple lines or web-like patterns, resembling spider webs or tree branches. While they are usually harmless, some people may find them cosmetically bothersome.

The Neo’s laser energy is highly attracted to haemoglobin. The laser energy effectively coagulates the unwanted vessels, which will then be broken down and absorbed by the body.

The number of treatments for each vessel may depend on the colour, size and depth of the vessel. Crusting, scabbing and temporary spot hypopigmentation will sometimes occur at the treatment site.

Hyperpigmentation and sun damage refers to the darkening of patches of skin compared to the surrounding area. It occurs when there is an excess production of melanin. Hyperpigmentation can be caused by various factors, including sun exposure, hormonal changes, skin injuries, inflammation, and certain medical conditions.

The Neo’s laser technology is designed to specifically target melanin. By emitting laser energy at specific wavelengths, the device can selectively heat and destroy excess melanin in the skin, reducing the appearance of pigmented lesions such as age spots, sunspots, freckles, and melasma.

After treatment, the lesion should continue to darken and eventually shed off in 3–4 weeks. Typically 2–3 treatments are required.

Melasma is a common skin condition characterised by patches of hyperpigmentation on the face, particularly on the cheeks, forehead, upper lip, and chin. It is often triggered by hormonal changes, sun exposure, and certain medications.

The Aerolase Neo’s unique laser technology allows for selective targeting of pigmented lesions while minimising damage to the surrounding skin. The laser emits high-energy pulses of light that selectively target the excess melanin in the skin without causing damage to the surrounding tissues.

After treatment, the lesion should continue to darken and eventually shed off in 3–4 weeks. Typically 2–3 treatments are required.

Pseudofolliculitis Barbae (PFB), commonly known as razor bumps or ingrown hairs, is a common condition that occurs when hair follicles become inflamed and irritated after shaving or other hair removal methods. It often appears in patients of darker skin types.

The Aerolase Neo utilises a laser technology that can effectively target and treat the underlying causes of PFB. The laser energy is absorbed by the melanin in the hair follicles, effectively destroying the hair and reducing inflammation and irritation.

The number of treatment sessions required can vary depending on the severity of PFB and the desired outcome. Mr Olivier Amar can evaluate your specific condition, assess your skin type, and provide personalised recommendations for treatment and ongoing care.

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition that is characterised by redness, flushing, visible blood vessels, and sometimes acne-like bumps on the face.

The laser energy emitted by the Aerolase Neo can effectively target and reduce the redness and visible blood vessels associated with rosacea. The laser treatment works by specifically targeting the blood vessels and reducing their size, resulting in a decrease in redness and flushing.

Recurrence is common and can be caused by a number of medical or lifestyle factors. It is important to understand that rosacea is a chronic condition that can only be controlled rather than cured. Heat and friction can exacerbate the condition, certain foods, allergies and lifestyle choices may also be a trigger. Typically 2–3 treatments are required.

Skin rejuvenation with Aerolase Neo is a  treatment option that allows for comprehensive rejuvenation of skin tone and texture. Skin texture concerns can include roughness, unevenness, enlarged pores, fine lines, and wrinkles.

The Aerolase Neo utilises laser technology to target and treat these concerns, promoting smoother and more even skin. The laser treatment works by delivering pulses of light energy to the targeted areas of the skin. This energy helps stimulate collagen production and promotes remodeling of the skin’s underlying structure.

By stimulating collagen, the treatment can help improve skin elasticity, smooth out rough texture, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and minimize the size of enlarged pores. The number of treatment sessions required may vary depending on the severity of your skin texture concerns and your individual response to the treatment.

Did you know?

HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE?

NeoSkin treatments typically take 15-40 minutes depending on the condition you want to be addressed and the treatment area size.

How should I prepare for NeoSkin treatment?

It is best to arrive at your appointment with your skin as best prepared for your NeoSkin treatment as it can be. This would ideally include not drinking alcohol for 24 hours prior to your appointment, as well as having had plenty of rest the night before your treatment to ensure you arrive feeling calm and relaxed.

Before the treatment, you will need to completely clean your skin with a cleanser to remove any lotions, makeup, or other substances on the skin. This ensures that  the treatment will be able to achieve the best results possible. For larger treatment areas or treatment for pigmented lesions, we recommend applying numbing cream to the area 1 hour prior to treatment. Emla 5% numbing cream can be purchased from any pharmacy without a prescription.

How many treatments are needed?

The number of treatments needed varies from person to person. depending on the condition being treated and the degree to which skin aging has occurred.

For most patients, it is recommended that they undergo a treatment course of 4–5 sessions for skin rejuvenation and 3-4 sessions for dermatology conditions. Once the results you want have been achieved, subsequent sessions may be needed to maintain the results.

CAN ANY OTHER PROCEDURES BE DONE AT THE SAME TIME?

If you wish, Plasma rich platelet (PRP) treatment can be combined with Aerolase NeoSkin to elevate the results and boosts the skin’s radiance and luminosity, improving texture and reducing the visible signs of ageing.

WHEN WILL I SEE the RESULTS?

Everyone’s skin is unique and therefore reacts differently to treatment. Some patients will notice immediate results, while others may see gradual results that appear over time. Typically, most patients see noticeable results after three treatments with enhanced clearance and quality of skin occuring after each subsequent treatment. It is important to understand that skin is always aging and that signs of aging will naturally reappear.

What can I expect after NeoSkin treatment?

There is no downtime following NeoSkin treatments. You may experience a slight redness in the skin, but (if it occurs at all) it will fade within a few hours.

How long do I have to wait to return to normal activities following the treatment?

You may return to your normal daily activities immediately, though as with any laser treatment, you should wear a sun protection of 50+ and  avoid direct sunlight.
