Polynucleotide Treatment
What is Polynucleotide treatment?
Polynucleotide treatment is an injectable bio revitalisation treatment, harnessing the technology of natural polynucleotide based bio-stimulating gel to restore skin firmness, tone and elasticity. The polynucleotides work to moisturise, reduce free radical damage and boost collagen production. Treatment consists of a series of polynucleotide injections which work at a cellular level – encouraging the skin to regenerate from within, restoring skin tone, hydration and helping to reduce wrinkles. This treatment boosts the skin’s radiance and luminosity, improves texture and reduces the visible signs of ageing.
Injected like hyaluronic acid dermal filler, Polynucleotide is placed into the skin with intradermal injections to target thin lines and improve skin texture, without creating volume. When looking at improving the underlying layer of the skin, it works towards achieving healthier looking skin without creating a layer between the dermis and epidermis. Polynucleotide injections has quickly become part of the range of skin regenerative treatments supporting longevity and wellness.
Mr Amar uses Polynucleotide brands Plinest and Newest, from Mastelli. In the form of polymerised polynucleotide-based injectable gels, the treatment works by stimulating fibroblasts which encourages cell turnover, improves elasticity, boosts collagen production and hydrates skin thanks to powerful wound-healing polymers.
Why consider Polynucleotide treatment?
You might consider Polynucleotide treatment to:
- Enhance skin hydration, circulation and overall skin quality
- Boost collagen production and elastin for an overall rejuvenation of the under eyes, face and neck
- Remove under-eye hollows and shadows for a less tired appearance
- Decrease lower eyelid fine lines and wrinkles
- Restore a smooth and youthful contour to the face
- Treat crepey-looking skin and fine lines on the neck and chest
- Soften facial wrinkles and folds, such as those on the forehead, between the brows and from the nose to the corner of the mouth (the nasolabial fold)
In skin texture management, Polynucleotide treatment is the bridge between at home skin care, injectables by dermal filler and autologous PRP (plasma rich platelets).

A 2ml syringe is used at each session. Multiple micro-droplets are placed into the skin with intradermal injections using a needle or cannula.

The recommended treatment is three sessions, two to three weeks apart with a fourth session at four months to boost ongoing improvement. Most patients go on to repeat the treatment yearly.

When will I see the results of Polynucleotide treatment?
You will see results immediately, though there may be some initial swelling.
How should I prepare for Polynucleotide treatment?
It is best to arrive at your appointment with your skin as best prepared for your dermal filler treatment as it can be. This would ideally include not drinking alcohol for 2-3 days prior to your appointment to lessen the risk of bleeding and bruising, as well as having had plenty of rest the night before your treatment to ensure you arrive feeling calm and relaxed. It is also advised that you do not consume ibuprofen and aspirin for 1 week prior to your appointment as these can also thin your blood making bruising more likely.
What can I expect after Polynucleotide treatment?
Soon after treatment there may be slight bruising, redness, swelling and tenderness after the injections. This is a normal side effect of the treatment, it is only temporary and should disappear in one to three days but can last up to a week.
How long do I have to wait to return to normal activities following the treatment?
You should avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours to prevent increasing blood flow to the face. You can return to your day to day activities immediately after your treatment.
