PRP for scalp quality and hair loss
What is PRP for scalp quality and hair loss treatment?
Platelet-rich plasma seeks to reverse the early stages of hair loss created by thinning hair, bald spots and receding hairlines.
PRP, also known as Platelet Rich Plasma, is a natural, non-surgical treatment that uses the regenerative power of your own blood. Blood contains platelets and other cells that naturally work to heal damaged or aged tissues. Platelets play a vital role in healing by releasing growth factors, which are proteins that stimulate the growth and repair of specific tissues.
Why consider PRP for scalp quality and hair loss treatment?
RegenLab PRP is a super-concentrated, bespoke form of PRP which when injected into the scalp, can act like a fertiliser to the follicles, slowing down and reducing hair loss.
It can be used alongside other hair loss treatments, such as pharmaceutical products, hair transplant surgery, nano fat to scalp or Mr Olivier Amar’s specialised fat transfer system Kerastem, which can help regrow lost hair.
PRP scalp treatment is an intense non-surgical treatment that can help slow hair loss – an issue which affects more and more men and women and can affect self-esteem and confidence.
Did you know?
What happens during the treatment?
Around 15mls – of blood will be taken from your arm by the same method as a blood test. This blood is then placed in a centrifuge for around 25 minutes, to extract and separate regenerative blood cells which are concentrated in the plasma, or clear, liquid part of the blood.
The exact concentration of platelets and other blood components in your PRP solution will be precisely adjusted according to the condition being treated. This super-enriched form of PRP will then be ready to infuse into the scalp to encourage hair growth.
What concerns can the treatment address?
PRP to scalp can treat concerns such as:
- Scalp Quality
- Thinning Hair
- Receding hairline
- Bald Spots
Can any other procedures be done at the same time?
Nano fat transfer to scalp treatment can be combined with PRP to reverse the early stages of hair loss created by thinning hair, bald spots and receding hairlines.
In this procedure, a small amount of fat between 10 and 20ml is liquified and highly filtered until it becomes extremely fluid yet naturally rich in SVF stem cells. This emulsified fat can then be used to bring growth factor to the scalp to activate hair follicles and contribute to increasing the number of hairs in patients with alopecia.
How long does the treatment take?
If you are having hair loss treatment, your scalp will first be numbed using a local anaesthetic to ensure your comfort. Treatment takes around one hour.
How many treatments are recommended?
For optimum results, Mr Olivier Amar recommends two to three treatments, four weeks apart, plus a yearly maintenance treatment. After your first treatment the concentration of growth factor is quite high but this drops in the 3-4 weeks following treatment, to keep the growth factor consistently high until an optimum level is reached, a second and third session is recommended.
What can I expect after PRP to scalp treatment?
There is no downtime associated PRP injections. It is normal to experience bruising, redness, itching, soreness, and swelling that may last from 3-10 days following your procedure. Apply cold compresses for the first 8 hours to reduce swelling.
How long do I have to wait to return to normal activities following the treatment?
You should avoid strenuous exercise for 3 days following treatment. You can return to your day to day activities immediately after your treatment.
