Renuvion and micro liposuction
What is Renuvion and micro liposuction surgery?
Using radio frequency energy powered by helium plasma, Renuvion applies bursts of highly controlled heat to the underlying tissues to achieve tighter, firmer skin, while leaving the surface intact. A single use Renuvion probe is inserted below the skin and the skin is treated with multiple passes. The device uses a gentle radiofrequency waveform to convert an inert gas into a cold plasma. Helium is used because it can be converted to a plasma with very little energy. The result is an energy that is unique in its ability to provide tissue heating and cooling almost simultaneously.
Mr Olivier Amar’s Renuvion body contouring uses a radiofrequency powered energy in conjunction with manual micro liposuction, to remove unwanted fat and tighten excess skin. Rather than simply removing fat, Renuvion body contouring helps to attain a sculpted silhouette, boost skin retraction and tightening without the cutting of skin.
Why consider Renuvion and micro liposuction surgery?
Renuvion body contouring is for those who maintain a steady weight, but still have pockets of unwanted fat, sagging skin and sub-optimal skin elasticity on the abdomen, outer and inner thighs or arms. The aim of the procedure is to reduce excess skin and fat, without the cutting of skin, leaving you with a smoother, firmer and more defined look, with less scarring and a shorter recovery time. There is a small immediate tightening with most of the effect occurring the subsequent weeks and months.
When skin laxity is more of a concern then fat removal, Renuvion treatment provides the perfect solution. I find when fat removal is a priority and skin laxity is a concern, the combination of Renuvion and liposuction gives great results.

Any liposuction and Renuvion scars are minimal. They can be hidden in the natural creases of the body and are difficult to see in most patients. After Renuvion and micro liposuction surgery, you will need to wear a soft, elastic, compression garment for between two and four weeks to support recovery during the healing period which is easy to hide under your clothes.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE PROCEDURE?
Mr Olivier Amar takes care to remove superficial fat in such a way as to ensure the skin retracts appropriately for a natural, smooth and toned appearance. During treatment, small incisions of around 0.5cm will be made. A specialist cannula uses movement and vibration to break down the fat before it is sucked out.

What form of anaesthetic will be used?
Renuvion with micro liposuction is performed under total intravenous anaesthesia (TIVA), a technique of anaesthesia which uses a combination of agents given exclusively via the intravenous route without the use of gas anaesthesia. This means you will sleep comfortably throughout the procedure and wake immediately afterwards with a significantly reduced likelihood of feeling groggy or nauseous. The anaesthesia will be explained to you by your Anaesthetist during the preoperative consultation.
Is Renuvion FDA approved?
Renuvion has FDA clearance for the cutting, coagulation and ablation of soft tissue during open and laparoscopic surgical procedures.
Can any other procedures be done at the same time?
Mr Olivier Amar can perform liposuction at the same time to help remove stubborn fat and leave you with a slimmer and firmer silhouette. If you opt for liposuction, Mr Olivier Amar can utilise the fat that he removes for facial rejuvenation or natural breast augmentation if this is desired.

What can I expect after Renuvion and micro liposuction surgery?
After Renuvion and micro liposuction surgery, you will need to wear a soft, elastic, compression garment for the first few days after treatment to help with skin retraction, reduce swelling and assist your recovery during the healing period. The garments are easy to hide under your normal clothes. Bruising should settle between ten and twenty days.
You will be asked to come in for a post-operative nurse appointment one week after your surgery. At this point your incision sites will be reviewed, stitches removed and your preliminary healing will be assessed. You will come back at six week after surgery to be reviewed by Mr Olivier Amar.
How long do I have to wait to return to normal activities following the surgery?
Depending on the extent of the treatment and your daily routines, you will usually be able to resume your normal activities after two to ten days and return to gentle exercise after three weeks.
