About Mr Olivier Amar

The GTI (Groove Tipped Injection) Cannula® is designed as to treat depressed cutaneous scars without needing to use a sharp needle. It’s has a grooved tip that allows it to pass through the tissue smoothly, only severing the scar or higher density tissue, reducing the risk of damage to important nerves or vessels.

This makes it safer than regular subscision methods that use a sharp needle. A side port then allows for the injection of filler into the cavity area to plump and fill out the depression. Any qualified practitioner can use the GTI cannula and it fits all regular filler syringes.

As part of Mr Olivier Amar’s dedication to innovation, research and care in the field of scarring, he has created The Scar Kit, a new way for practitioners to help people with scars who may not otherwise be able to have treatment.

Mr Olivier Amar says, “Scars, particularly facial scars, can be a cause of great stigma and distress. Many people around the world are not in a position to get help from a dermatologist or plastic surgeon. I saw a clear need for a safe and effective way to be able to treat patients with minor facial defects or scars without the need to use a potentially risky needle or blade. Any trained medical practitioner can use this simple but effective kit in almost any setting. I hope it will help set more people free from the trauma of scarring.”

Mr Olivier Amar is director of research at his Sloane Street clinic, a UK Centre of Excellence in Cosmetic Surgery, which delivers research and advanced training in aesthetic procedures.

He now oversees a plastic surgery fellowship awarded by the British Association of Plastic Reconstruction and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) and British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgerons (BAAPS) to the Cadogan Clinic.

Fellows are fully trained plastic surgeons who work alongside clinic consultants and in conjunction with their own research will also gain experience of surgery under direct supervision by Mr Olivier Amar.

Mr Olivier Amar designed the PRP Express treatments as a non-surgical alternative to the well-known, more painful and time consuming high street version.

It is completely non-toxic and hypoallergenic, using Platelet Rich Plasma from the patient’s blood which are rich in growth factors. This is injected through a tiny cannula into deep skin tissue of the cheek, helping to rejuvenate the skin by activating its own natural defences. This in turn produces collagen and healing platelet rich plasma to heal the skin from the inside out, revealing a fresh, radiant complexion.

Mr Olivier Amar’s passion for aesthetics extends well beyond his clinic. He is dedicated to research-led work and collaborates with the world’s leading surgeons to conduct studies and examine radical new rejuvenation techniques.

Working at the forefront of research into using adult mesenchymal stem cells as a way of visibly transforming and preserving skin texture and volume through tissue rejuvenation.

For many years Mr Olivier collaborated with his father, Dr R. E. Amar who pioneered Facial Autologous Muscular Injection (FAMI) which led to Mr Olivier Amar’s particular area of interest – fat tissue transfer and stem cell development.

During initial consultations Mr Olivier Amar uses the latest 3D imaging system – Crisalix which ensures the ultimate in precision when discussing surgery for face, breast and body augmentation.
