What is Renuvion treatment?

Using radio frequency energy powered by helium plasma, Renuvion applies bursts of highly controlled heat to the underlying tissues to achieve tighter, firmer skin, while leaving the surface intact. A single use Renuvion probe is inserted below the skin and the skin is treated with multiple passes. The device uses a gentle radiofrequency waveform to convert an inert gas into a cold plasma. Helium is used because it can be converted to a plasma with very little energy. The result is an energy that is unique in its ability to provide tissue heating and cooling almost simultaneously.

Why consider Renuvion treatment?

Renuvion is a key hole procedure that effectively tightens the skin without skin removal surgery.  It can be used on its own to tighten skin or even combined with a body contouring procedure. There is a small immediate tightening with most of the effect occurring the subsequent weeks and months.

When skin laxity is more of a concern then fat removal, Renuvion treatment provides the perfect solution. I find when fat removal is a priority and skin laxity is a concern, the combination of Renuvion J Plasma and liposuction gives great results.

What areas can be treated?

Treatment areas can include:

  • Face
  • Neck
  • Under chin
  • Chest
  • Breasts
  • Abdomen
  • Arms
  • Thighs
  • Knees

What form of anaesthetic will be used?

Renuvion with micro liposuction is performed under total intravenous anaesthesia (TIVA), a technique of anaesthesia which uses a combination of agents given exclusively via the intravenous route without the use of gas anaesthesia. This means you will sleep comfortably throughout the procedure and wake immediately afterwards with a significantly reduced likelihood of feeling groggy or nauseous. The anaesthesia will be explained to you by your Anaesthetist during the preoperative consultation.

How does the treatment work?

The Renuvion device uses a gentle radiofrequency waveform to convert an inert gas into a cold plasma. Helium is used because it can be converted to a plasma with very little energy. The result is an energy that is unique in its ability to provide tissue heating and cooling almost simultaneously.

Is Renuvion FDA approved?

Renuvion has FDA clearance for the cutting, coagulation and ablation of soft tissue during open and laparoscopic surgical procedures.

Can any other procedures be done at the same time?

If you wish, Mr Olivier Amar can perform PRP or nano fat to the treatment area to aid healing.

What can I expect after Renuvion surgery?

After Renuvion treatment, you will need to wear a soft, elastic, compression garment for the first few days after treatment to help with skin retraction, reduce swelling and assist your recovery during the healing period. The garments are easy to hide under your normal clothes. Bruising should settle between ten and twenty days.

You will be asked to come in for a post-operative nurse appointment one week after your surgery. At this point your incision sites will be reviewed, stitches removed and your preliminary healing will be assessed. You will come back at six week after surgery to be reviewed by Mr Olivier Amar.

How long do I have to wait to return to normal activities following the surgery?

Depending on the extent of the treatment and your daily routines, you will usually be able to resume your normal activities after two to ten days and return to gentle exercise after three weeks.
