Questions & Answers
Consultation Questions
HOW LONG IS A CONSULTATION?
Most consultations require up to an hour to discuss medical history, requirements and procedure options.
SHOULD I BRING PHOTOGRAPHS OF MY YOUNGER SELF?
Absolutely. I use photographs to explain the ageing process. Photographs are an essential tool to help understand the architecture of a face and body and to see how it might be rejuvenated.
DO I NEED TO PROVIDE MEDICAL HISTORY?
All patients are required to disclose a full medical history.
HOW CAN I SEE WHAT I WILL LOOK LIKE AFTER BODY CONTOURING?
I use the latest 3D imaging system Crisalix which ensures the ultimate in precision whether we are discussing procedures for the face, breast or body. It is also a useful way for patients to understand what they can expect from surgery.
WHAT ARE THE FEES?
An initial consultation is £250.
General Procedure Questions
WHAT PROCEDURES DO YOU PERFORM?
All procedures booked with me are performed by me. Top of my list is facial rejuvenation including face and neck lifts, mini facelifts and short scar facelifts with Stemcell Volumising Rejuvenation. I also perform body contouring which includes liposuction and breast and buttock.
WHAT IS STEMCELL VOLUMISING REJUVENATION?
SVR is my own unique treatment where I identify key areas of fat and carefully select fat cells for transfer to specific areas of the face. Skin texture is visibly rejuvenated, the face is lifted and volume is increased. As I tell my patients: I want to restore your face – not create a new face.
AM I REQUIRED TO WEAR SPECIFIC CLOTHING FOLLOWING body contouring or breastSURGERY?
After body contouring or breast surgery, you will need to wear a soft, elastic, compression bra or garment for between three and six weeks to support recovery during the healing period which is easy to hide under your clothes. A compression bra helps with skin retraction and to reduce swelling as the surgical area is healing.
HOW DO I ACHIEVE THE BEST RESULT?
A combination of wearing your compression garment, if required, maintaining a steady weight, following your aftercare instructions and attending your post-operative appointments is key to achieving the best result. It is vital that you follow all the aftercare instructions issued to help aid the scarring process.
WILL MY PROCEDURE REQUIRE AN OVERNIGHT STAY?
We are happy to arrange the procedure at a hospital with an overnight stay facility if you wish or assist with a nurse to stay with you overnight as well as helping you find local accommodation after your surgery if necessary.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR SURGERY?
All surgical procedures are teamwork between the surgeon and the patient. You wouldn’t run a marathon without training so you need to prepare for any surgery
From the time you book the procedure ensure you get good rest, eat well and take gentle exercise. Alcohol consumption should be limited as should smoking.
If a patient feels prepared for surgery then they will arrive for their procedure feeling positive which in turn will reduce any anxiety and encourage a stress-free recovery.
My Procedure Questions
WHAT EFFECT CAN SMOKING AND ALCOHOL HAVE ON MY FAT GRAFTING RESULTS?
Certain lifestyle factors can increase the risk of complications during and after your surgery. The most common impact of smoking before your surgery is that it increases your chances of developing an infection and inhibits your body’s natural healing processes.
We insist that all patients stop smoking and using nicotine products at least six weeks before surgery. Reducing alcohol intake is also strongly advised. This is particularly important for fat grafting surgery in which the fat’s viability post-procedure is materially reduced in a smoker population.
DO YOU CONSULT PATIENTS ON THE DAY OF THE PROCEDURE?
On the morning of surgery you will meet the anaesthetist then I will go through the procedure again and will be present as you sign consent forms. I will also see you after the procedure to ensure you are ready to be discharged.
WHAT AFTERCARE DO YOU OFFER?
This depends on the type of procedure. Dressings and stitches will be managed by a specialist nurse here at the Cadogan Clinic. A follow-up appointment will be booked for 4-6 weeks after the procedure then 3-6 months and then in a year’s time.
WHEN CAN I SHOWER AND WASH MY HAIR AFTER MINI FACE LIFT SURGERY?
In general, you may gently shower and wash your hair 48 hours after a facelift surgery, taking particular care on the treated areas. You can also blow dry your hair on a cool setting. Be gentle when brushing or combing your hair so that you do not catch your comb in the suture lines.
HOW DO I ACHIEVE THE BEST RESULT AND ULTIMATELY MY DESIRED PHYSIQUE after liposuction surgery?
A combination of liposuction, dieting and exercise is key to a good result, however a good candidate for this procedure is someone who has realistic expectations and is in good health.
WHAT IS CAPSULAR CONTRACTURE?
A normal reaction to the presence of a foreign body in the organism is to isolate it from the foreign body with a hermetic membrane called a ‘periprosthetic capsule’. Normally this membrane is thin, supple and imperceptible but the reaction can increase and the capsule can thicken, become fibrous and contract exerting pressure on the implant, it is then known as a ‘contracture’.
Aesthetic Treatment Questions
WHEN WILL I SEE THE RESULTS OF WRINKLE RELAXING INJECTIONS?
You may begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours for moderate to severe frown lines. Full results in 30 days.
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR WRINKLE RELAXING INJECTIONS TREATMENT?
It is best to arrive at your appointment with your skin as best prepared for your treatment as it can be. This would ideally include not drinking alcohol for 2-3 days prior to your appointment to lessen the risk of bleeding and bruising, as well as having had plenty of rest the night before your treatment to ensure you arrive feeling calm and relaxed.
It is also advised that you do not consume ibuprofen and aspirin for 1 week prior to your appointment as these can also thin your blood making bruising more likely.
WHAT ARE THE ALTERNATIVES to dermal filler treatment?
In expert hands, dermal fillers are an effective and safe way to rejuvenate the face. Mr Olivier Amar successfully treats many patients in this way. However, fillers are most suitable for patients with reasonably firm, elastic skin.
It is important to understand that treatments may need to change as you grow older and the proportions of your face change. In patients with an excess of sagging skin, fillers may no longer give them the natural rejuvenated look they desire. At this point other approaches, such as a minimally invasive face or neck lift, may offer a better outcome.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING Express PRP treatment?
During an Express PRP treatment, you will first have a small amount of blood – 15mls – taken from your arm just as you would in a blood test. This blood is then placed in a centrifuge for five minutes to separate the red blood cells from the clear liquid called plasma and the platelets.
Platelets play a vital role in regenerating our skin, releasing growth factors that work to heal damaged or ageing tissues, including our skin cells. Your face will be cleaned, and four tiny punctures made to allow the insertion of a flexible, blunt-ended cannula to gently distribute the platelet rich plasma under the skin of the cheeks and around the mouth.
The skin is then massaged to encourage the healing plasma to spread under the skin.
WHEN WILL I SEE THE RESULTS of Express PRP?
You may notice improvements in skin texture after a few days, but it can take up to three weeks to appreciate the full results, including glow, hydration and a rested appearance.
Because Mr Olivier Amar’s Express PRP involves less disruption to your skin than traditional injections, you will be free to combine it with other treatments such as peels and laser procedures.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING Aerolase Neo TREATMENT?
The Neo’s energy passes through the skin to selectively heat these targets without adverse effects—resulting in clear, healthy skin. The 650-microsecond pulse eliminates discomfort during treatment. Before the treatment, Mr Amar will clean your skin with a cleanser to remove any lotions, makeup, or other substances on the skin. This ensures that the treatment will be able to achieve the best results possible.

The goal of nano fat injection in combination with PRP is to reverse the early stages of hair loss created by thinning hair, bald spots and receding hairlines.
Nano fat in combination with RegenLab PRP, a super-concentrated, bespoke form of PRP, when injected into the scalp, can act like a fertiliser to the follicles, slowing down and reducing hair loss. WHEN CAN I WASH MY HAIR FOLLOWING FUE SURGERY?
For the first 3 days after the procedure, do not touch the transplanted hair. You must spray the transplanted area as follows:
- Every 30 minutes with the saline solution whilst awake for the first 3 days.
- Morning and evening with ATP solution on recipient areas: in the morning, spray with ATP one hour after the saline; in the evening spray ATP as last thing before going to bed.
Washing the hair from the fourth day is essential so that the scabs loosen and come off. You should expect this to happen on day 7-10.
WHEN CAN I CUT OR DYE MY HAIR FOLLOWING FUE SURGERY?
You can have a haircut and have hair dyeing 4 weeks after the treatment.
